Instructions for microteaching

Objective

The purpose of the mini lesson is to give you a feel about what classroom teaching is alike, especially for those who have never taught in classroom before. It is also a good opportunity for experienced teachers to reflect upon their own teaching.

Requirements

1. You will teach a 15-minute mini lesson in front of the class. Your classmates will be your students.
2. Choose a particular topic and content for your lesson. Make sure it fits into the 15-minute time frame.
3. Your mini lesson should consist of all the major components of a typical 50-minute one, i.e., Overview/preview, presentation of new materials, practice (including individual and group activities), and check/assessment.
4. Try your best to use communicative activities in your teaching.
5. Prepare a lesson plan and PPT and let me check them first before your teaching. You can reuse your vocabulary lesson plan (Homework 2). In your lesson plan, make sure to describe what kind of students you are targeting. Email me your mini lesson plan and PPT ahead of time.
